How are Integrated Care Board (ICB) changes affecting Continuing Healthcare cases
Families involved in NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) assessments and appeals are being advised to remain vigilant following recent organisational changes affecting a number of Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) across England.
Changes to ICB structures, mergers, office relocations and departmental re-organisation have resulted in some NHS Continuing Healthcare teams changing their contact details and administrative arrangements. As a result, some families may experience delays in correspondence, updates or the progression of their case.
Where an assessment, review or appeal is already underway, it is important to ensure that letters, emails and supporting documentation are being sent to the correct NHS Continuing Healthcare team. In some instances, historic contact details may no longer be monitored, which can lead to unnecessary delays while cases are redirected.
Although administrative arrangements may change, a person’s entitlement to NHS Continuing Healthcare funding does not. Assessments, reviews and appeals must continue to be carried out in accordance with the National Framework, regardless of which ICB is responsible for managing the case.
